the kernel goes to your FAT partition, the tarball in the ext2 partition (under the name "uImage.bin").

Flash version

You can flash http://download.hackable1.org/rev5/Hackable1-Openmoko-Freerunner-user-rev5-rootfs.jffs2 (rootfs) on your phone, along with the kernel.

Splash screen

A splash screen for u-boot is also available at http://download.hackable1.org/rev5/Hackable1-Openmoko-Freerunner-user-rev5-splash.gz, to be displayed when powering the phone on.

Experimental images

If you are really adventurous, try the daily images. They are developement images and may break features.
